AHRC Cultural Engagement Fellow
Birmingham City University and Library of Birmingham
Between Feb-April (2016) I am currently AHRC cultural engagement fellow at Birmingham City University (BCU) and Library of Birmingham. During which time I will be conducting an action research project that consists of running workshops with the public, working with foreign language tutors and conservatoire students to devise a live sound work that can be performed in and around the library.
I will also be hosting the first transdisiplinary art-and-translation roundtable discussion that brings together artists and experts from other fields to enter into a dialogue – share and discuss their research.
Process
I have been busy getting together a polylingual transdisciplinary team to create experimental sound works which will be performed in the Library in April, working with MA and PhD students from BCU as academic partners and alumni.
I have been introduced to the sounds of the Arabic, Hindi, Finnish, Thai, Japanese, Hebrew, Portuguese and Greek alphabets.
